Not the Nevernever you were Expecting
Aug. 10th, 2015 08:35 pmIt's been a few months, and it seems like it's time to introduce the newest apprentice to the realms of faerie. Or, well, a small and hopefully relatively harmless piece of it. As it just so happens that Haley has a contact who wants to meet there, with information for the Warden rather than the wizard, it seems about perfect. Rather than take a Path, instead they get to take a drive.
A long drive, but hey, it's a bonding experience, right? Even if they have to stop overnight to crash somewhere because it's a little longer than Haley had expected. By then she's feeling less like "bonding" and more like "wanting to kill something", but she's trying to keep that to herself and focus on the important thing. Which is not scaring her apprentice.
But they're finally here. A sleepy little town in Maine. "If only there were more Wardens, or I'd have sent somebody else to do this thing," she grumbles as she parks the Beetle off the side of the highway, just at the treeline. They don't need to actually go into town, after all. It's probably best that they don't, anyway: less likely to actually run into somebody who they'd have to explain themselves to, and less bystanders in case something nasty shows up.
